Proteus; President of the Board
The Start-Up Maverick, Joseph Knecht left New York City with plans to return to Wall Street after the completion of his tour through West Virginia University for his undergraduate degree and a quick stop in Lincoln Nebraska to complete his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Connecting with Dr. Muhlin Chen and Dr. Donald Nelson more than 16 years ago, Joseph joined their small tech company (today called VentureTech) and has yet to leave the heartland. Knecht’s zest for people and launching companies differently has since grown into coaching and mentoring 250+ intra/entrepreneurs, helping them to create technology companies and products with multi-billion dollar revenues (and growing).
Now leading Proteus as CEO, Knecht helped VentureTech seize changes in the technology industry and develop its proprietary – validate – build – launch – model. Knecht’s guidance helps Proteus’ intra/entrepreneur clients (start-up to Fortune 500) validate b2b SaaS products and corresponding markets- either growing, killing or pivoting the idea before launching into a marketplace with no sales. His vision has saved billions of wasted dollars for clients, their corporations and families.
Joseph has co-founded three companies (Vipa Solutions, Reviewr and ActivationInsights) and has helped guide the Proteus team into venture partner investments in 15 companies. He is active in the international startup ecosystem, a frequent speaker, and adviser to many startup and high growth ventures.
Away from the business world Joseph spends time hunting, horse showing and enjoying time with his wife Jennifer anywhere there is warm water.
